VERGE......

Walter Percival Verge, age 80 of Falmouth, Hants County, Nova Scotia.

It is with deep sadness that the family announce Walter’s sudden passing on Tuesday, October 8th, 2013, peacefully at home in Falmouth, N.S. Born on September 12th, 1933 in Halifax, he was the son of the late Simeon and Olive (Harnish) Verge.

Walter worked for 18 years with the Canadian National Railway. He then owned and operated his own construction company WPV Construction. After that he worked as a building inspector for the Town of Windsor. Upon his retirement Walter did what he loved best – traveling with Roberta all across Canada, from the Alaskan Highway down to Yuma, Arizona, and numerous points in between going as far as the roads would take them. Walter loved to hunt and fish, but was just as content to walk through the woods and look for deer. He was also a talented artist, both with paint and wood. Walter coached Hockey for several years and played into his seventies. He could also be found out on the golf course. In his later years Walter was a member of the Native Council of Nova Scotia.

Walter will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, the former Roberta Corcoran; sons, Allen ( Jayne ), Calgary; Myles ( Joanne ), Falmouth; Greg, Falmouth; grandchildren, Gerald, Ashley, Christopher, Courtney, and Morgan; great-grandchild, Zachary; sister, Jean McCallum; many nieces and nephews.

Walter was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Delores Saunders.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be held on 3 p.m. Saturday October 12th, 2013 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King Street, Windsor, Nova Scotia, with the Rev. E.E. Hill officiating.

Interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
