<div itemprop="description">VAUGHAN...... <br> <br>Vaughan, Joan Elizabeth, age 85, of Bridgewater and formerly of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. <br> <br>Born on June 8, 1931, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Frank Edwin and Alice Odessa (Bentley) Vaughan. <br> <br>Joan was a Major in the Salvation Army, devoting her life to helping others. She began her 36 year career with the Salvation Army Corps and then worked in the accounting and audit department and provided audit services across Canada. Among her many roles with the Salvation Army, she was the administrator of their nursing home in New Westminster, B.C. She retired to Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Joan dearly loved spending time with her family and friends. In her youth, Joan was the goalie of the championship winning Windsor Academy Girls Hockey Team. <br> <br>Joan is survived by her sister, Marion (Bruce) Carroll, Toronto (formerly Bridgewater) and several nieces and nephews, Alice Burroughsford, David Vaughan, Stephen Vaughan, Alan Vaughan, Anne Hanlon, Brian Vaughan, Debra Carroll, Janet Carroll, Nancy Carroll, Elizabeth Hutchinson, Heather Carroll, Jeffrey Carroll, Andrea Carroll, Karen LeBlanc, Valerie Lavalle, Terry Vaughan and Sandra Vaughan and several grandnieces and grandnephews. <br> <br>Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie (Mrs. George Newcomb); brothers, Owen and Raymond Vaughan; niece, Valerie Newcomb and nephew, Raymond Vaughan. <br> <br>Visitation will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Windsor, with funeral following and with Captains Joshua and Joyce Downer officiating.
