<div itemprop="description">THOMPSON...... <br /> <br />Ervin Wilfred Thompson, age 88, of Newport Station, Hants County, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015, at the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, where he resided for the past year. <br /> <br />Born on June 28, 1927, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late John and Sadie (Caldwell) Thompson. <br /> <br />Ervin was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. <br /> <br />Ervin was employed as a carpenter at the Halifax Shipyards, retiring in 1992 after more than 20 years of service. <br /> <br />Ervin is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Shirley Pauline Flynn; his daughters, Carol (John) Levy, Brampton, Ontario; Valerie (Barry) Kelley, Brooklyn, Hants County; Wendy Thompson (Jeff Ross), Windsor, Hants County; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Mestre, Halifax; brother, Ralph in Ontario; several nieces and nephews. <br /> <br />Besides his parents, John and Sadie (Caldwell) Thompson; he was predeceased by brothers, Aubrey &ldquo;Aub&rdquo;, Raymond and Roy; sisters, Pearl Dixon, Mabel Hunter and Dorothy Mosher. <br /> <br />The family would like to thanks all the staff of Dykeland Lodge for the care and compassion they showed Ervin while he resided there. <br /> <br />A committal service will be held at Lindsay&rsquo;s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015, followed by a reception. Interment will be held at the Ste. Croix Cemetery, Cemetery Road, St. Croix. <br /> <br />In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, or to the Hants County Branch of the S.P.C.A. <br /> <br />Add your condolences, click on Contribute. <br /> <br /> <br /></div>
