Ruby Alice Dykens, age 94, of Windsor, formerly of Three Mile Plains and Martock, Hants County, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015, with her family by her side, at the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, where she was a resident for the past 18 years.
Born on April 26, 1921, in Windsor, Hanbts County, Nova Scotia, Ruby was the daughter of the late Edmund Henry and Alice Mary (Whitehead) Wile.
Ruby was formerly employed at Edgehill School for Girls. She was a member of St. Thomas Anglican Church, Three Mile Plains and Christ Church Anglican, Windsor; a former member of Anglican Church Women's Guild at both churches. She cherished her family.
Ruby is survived by her daughters, Connie (Peter) Kelley, Windsor; Beatrice, (William) Warren, Newport Station; Ella (Morris) Benedict, Sweets Corner; Carol Anne (Dale) Harvie, Scotch Village; Faye (Paul) Gallant, Souris, Prince Edward Island; Lillian (Raymond) Coshell, Lr. Sackville; sons, Billy (Susan) Dykens, Three Mile Plains; Brian (Darlene) Dykens, Falmouth; Leonard (Kathy) Dykens, Falmouth; Terry (Karen) Dykens, Kentville; 23 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; sister, Janette (Dino) Zumbo, Caledon, Ontario; brother-in-law, Bob Butler, Delhi, Ontario; sister-in-law, Ruth Wile, Haliburton Place, Windsor; many nieces and nephews.
Ruby was predeceased by her husband, Harry William Dykens (2003); son, Ricky Dykens (2010); great grandson, Zachary Eagles; sisters, Dorothy Swinamer, Beatrice Caldwell, Georgie Crowell, and Evelyn McCarthy; brothers, Rufus Wile, Percy Wile, and Frank Wile.
The family wish to extend a `Special Thanks` to all the staff of Dykeland Lodge, for all the care and love they gave to Mom and her family over the years.
Visitations will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, P.O. 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, Three Mile Plains, with Rev. Tom Henderson and Rev. David Curry officiating. Interment in the Ste. Croix Cemetery, Cemetery Road, St. Croix.
Family flowers only, donations in memory of Ruby may be made to Friends of Dykeland Lodge, St. Thomas Anglican Church, Christ Church Anglican or to a charity of one’s choice.
