Mildred Olevia Stevens, age 88,
of Poplar Grove, Hants County.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Mildred Stevens, on Friday, February 24, 2017, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.
Born on April 25, 1928, in Belmont, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Olevia (Hamilton) Benedict, and was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Fred Sylbert Stevens (2016); sisters, Merta Withrow, Audrey Hornsby, Verna Cochrane, and Freda Greenough; brother, Clyde Benedict. Mildred was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mildred is survived by her daughters, Elva (Gary) Lunn; Mabel (Mike) Smith of Poplar Grove; sons, Eddie Stevens, Lantz; Kevin (Carman) Stevens, Musquodoboit; Mark Stevens, Poplar Grove; 8 grandchildren, Fred, Janet and Jason Lunn; Kari Hunt, Katrina McGillivray, and Andrea Meade; Amanda Sabzali, and Jennifer Stevens and 6 great grandchildren, Madison Laffin; Jada Meade, Gage Meade, and Eden McGillivray; Lacey Sabzali, and Blaze Sabzali; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King St., P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0, followed by a reception. The Rev. Kevin Cox is officiating, with interment in St. Stephen’s Anglican Cemetery, Stanley.
Donations in memory of Mildred, may be made to the Avondale United Church or to Landmark East School, Wolfville.
