<div itemprop="description">RAFUSE...... <br> <br>Jennie Laura Rafuse, age 96, of Upper Vaughan, Hants County, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. <br> <br>Born on January 24, 1920, in Upper Vaughan, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel (Reece) Rafuse. <br> <br>Quiet and reserved, she loved her family, church, and community. She loved taking care of others and sharing together at family gatherings. She enjoyed bookkeeping, knitting, crocheting, sewing and quilting. She was as happy working outdoors and with the Christmas trees as in the kitchen. Jennie delighted in spending time with children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was Post Master of the Upper Vaughan Post Office from 1940/45, and later worked at Halifax Furnishings Company Ltd for 13 years. <br> <br>Jennie was married on Aug. 4, 1956 to Samuel James Rafuse, beloved husband of 37 years. They operated “Sam’s Tree Farm” starting in 1959, while Samuel also continued carpentry and construction work. <br> <br>She was a lifelong member of the Upper Vaughan Baptist Church, serving as Treasurer for almost 30 years. Jennie was a member of the Upper Vaughan WMS, and the Ladies Aid Society, serving as Treasurer for many years. She was a Dominion & Provincial Life Member of the Women’s Missionary Society. <br> <br>Jennie is survived by her daughter, Susan Rafuse, at home; her son, David (Diana) Rafuse, Port Williams; and her granddaughters, Rhiannon, Michaela and Alexandria; and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her elder sister, Frances (Armstrong) Manzer, Windsor; sisters-in-law, Doris (Lake) Rafuse, Windsor; Helen (Watson) Rafuse, Falmouth; Shirley (McKay) Rafuse, Windsor. <br> <br>Jennie was predeceased by her husband, Samuel James Rafuse (1993); and her parents, Charles Otis Rafuse (1985) and Ethel Mary (Reece) Rafuse (1963); sister, Marguerite “Marg” Church (1994); infant sister, Myrna Ellen Mary Rafuse (1945); brothers, Elmer “Bud” Rafuse (1987); Herman Rafuse (2013); James “Jim” Rafuse (2013); Graham Rafuse (2007); sisters-in-law, Lillian (Thompson) Rafuse (1993); Marion (Countway) Rafuse (2010); brothers-in-law, Donald Armstrong (1966); Bernard Manzer (2004); Lawson Church (2004). She was also predeceased by sisters-in-law, Mildred (Rafuse) Levy (1996); Ruby (Rafuse) Foreman (2015); Margueritte (Swinamer) Rafuse (1992); Olive (Rafuse) Rafuse (2015); Dorothy (Pace) Rafuse (2001); Helena “Lena” (Rafuse) Rafuse (2010); Gertrude “Gertie” (Kilcup/Faulkner) Rafuse (2007); Hazel (Flynn) Rafuse (2003); brothers-in-law, Donald Rafuse (1978); Clifford Rafuse (1948); Clark Rafuse (1996); Max Rafuse (2000); Robert Rafuse (1988); Markus Rafuse (2005); Harold Rafuse (2000); Melbourne Rafuse (1928); Floyd Rafuse (1968); Percy Levy (1981); Herbert Foreman (1998). <br> <br>The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Hants Community Hospital and Valley Regional Hospital for their care and support on Mom’s quick visits. <br> <br>Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 26 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King. St., P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. <br> <br>Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dan Green officiating, followed by a reception.
