<div itemprop="description">PORTER...... <br /> <br />Irvin Howard Porter, age 90, of Falmouth, Hants County, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016, at the Windsor Elms Village, the former family property &ldquo;Belleview Farm&rdquo;. <br /> <br />Born on February 19, 1926, in Hortonville, Kings County, Nova Scotia, Irvin was the last surviving son of the late Leslie and Elizabeth &ldquo;Bib&rdquo; (Dickson) Porter. <br /> <br />Irvin was a good man and was much loved. He was proud to be one of the Porter boys; his family and extended family; his WWII Air Force overseas service. He enjoyed fishing, camping, the cottage, spending time in the woodlot with his brothers; road trips with Les and Sue; Fin and Marion. He enjoyed his self-taught woodworking skills, and many have a piece of his handiwork. <br /> <br />Irvin is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Thelma B. Quinn; daughters, Jean (Terry) Newcombe, Falmouth; Anne (Kurt) Sarty, Liverpool; grandchildren, Jim (Marie) Newcombe, and Laura (Woody) Miller; Jacklyn (Dave) Ward and Ian (Cristie) Pemberton; great grandchildren, Julia, Makenzie, Andie, Sarah, Stephani, Henry Irvin and Samuel; special niece, Lorraine Porter and sister-in-law, Marion Quinn and family. Irvin is also survived by many nieces and nephews. <br /> <br />Beside his parents, Leslie and Elizabeth &ldquo;Bib&rdquo; (Dickson) Porter; he was predeceased by brothers, Dick, Les, Mont, Bill and John Porter and seventh son, cousin, Ralph Knowles. <br /> <br />Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in Lindsay&rsquo;s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS, B0N 2T0. <br /> <br />Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, in Lindsay&rsquo;s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Debra Mosher officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Town Road, Falmouth. <br /> <br />The family wish to express a special thanks to the 6 West, Camphill Veterans Hospital and buddies Henry, Eric and Bill; also thanks to Fundyview 1, Windsor Elms. <br /> <br />Donations in memory of Irvin may be made to the Windsor Elms Village (Flower Garden Fund), the Canadian Cancer Society, Palliative Care (Hants Community Hospital) or any charity. <br /> <br />To add your condolences, click on contribute. <br /> <br /></div>
