Ira Sankie Fitzgerald
June 10, 1939 - March 27, 2017
Ira Sankie Fitzgerald, 77, of Upper Rawdon, passed away on March 27, 2017 at home with his family by his side. Born in Wolfville he was a son of the late Roy Fitzgerald and Evelyn Layton.
Ira was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved family gatherings and picnics at Smiley’s Park. His most solitude places were working in the woods cutting trees and at Ocean Beach. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
Ira is survived by his daughters, Donna (Bob) Clouston, Wanda (Steve) Singer, Nancy (Mike Rhyno) Fitzgerald; son, Stephen (Juanita Oxford) Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Carrie Ward, Sandi Davidson, Eirin Rhodes, Cory Riley, Allison Lantz, Jean Luc, Serge and Dominic Comeau; great grandchildren, Macy, Vanessa, John, Daisha, Jayton. Ira will also be missed by his faithful fur companions, Mia & Zoey.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Emma Corkum, Zelda Grant, Marjorie Hines, Freda Keel, Mabel and Vera; brother, Eldon.
A celebration of his life will be held from 2 - 4 pm on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Stanley Community Hall, Stanley.
