George William Rich
May 7, 1923 - February 7, 2016
George William Rich, 92, of Windsor, Hants County, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 in Haliburton Place, Windsor. Born on May 7, 1923 in Kentville, NS, he was the son of the late, Eugene “Hale” and Margaret (Crabbe) Rich.
George attended Kings County Academy and upon graduation he joined the RCAF where he served for five years. After leaving the Airforce he started his career in broadcasting which led him to Toronto where he started with the CBC and he retired in 1983 as the Director for Broadcast Language. In 1999 he returned to Windsor to be closer to his family.
Surviving are his sister, Mildred “Millie” (Eric) Smiley, Windsor; many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, Hale and Margaret Rich; twin sister, Irene Soulis; sister, Gladys Greenhalgh.
There will be no visitation by request.
Memorial service will be 2 pm Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Box 2218, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. Rev. Rob Heffernan and Rev. John Bartol officiating.
Interment will be at a later date in Maplewood Cemetery, King Street, Windsor.
