PEMBERTON......

Frederick "Fred" Earl Pemberton - age 72, of Curry’s Corner, Hants County, passed away at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII Halifax, on Friday, May 6, 2016.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Fred was an avid hockey player and great “hockey dad” growing up as he very much enjoyed his time at the rink. He was well known by many for his bruising “wrist shot”. Over the years, he enjoyed attending local hockey games and most recently watching his grandson Jack.

Fred loved visiting and spending time with his four grandchildren (Tara, Jenna, Kate and Jack). He enjoyed taking in many events such as their school concerts, hockey, soccer, skating, swimming lessons, dance and piano recitals.

Fred spent 26 years working as an instructor in the Automotive Repair Program at the Hants Campus (NSCC) and the former Hants Regional Vocational School. He met many great people during his time at the “Vocational School” and took great pride in supporting his students in their quest to become mechanics. Fred retired from the “Vocational School” in the late 1990’s.

Fred has been very fortunate to have received a number of successful medical procedures (heart, knee, hip) over the past sixteen years. Our family would like to thank all the health care providers that have given great care to Fred.

Fred was a very kind and caring individual and was always willing to give a helping hand to others. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Nancy (Lombard), and by daughter, Wendy (Neil) Cross; son, Brad (Kerry); grandchildren, Tara, Jenna, Kate and Jack; brothers, Ken (Judi) and Steven (Yvonne); sister, Donna (John) Grutter; sister-in-law, Ann Marie (Harley); and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was predeceased by his father, Frederick; mother, Dorothy; brother, Blaine; sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Dorothy; and niece, Erin.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0, where visitation will take place 6:30-9:00 pm Monday, May 9, 2016.

Funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Windsor Baptist Church, 411 King Street, Windsor, with Reverend Rob Heffernan officiating. Interment will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, 1186 King Street, Windsor. A reception will follow at the Windsor Baptist Church.

Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Fred may be made to the Windsor Baptist Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

Add your condolences, click on "Contribute"
