<div itemprop="description">STEVENS...... <br /> <br />Fred Sylbert Stevens ~ It is with saddened hearts that the family announces the passing of Fred Stevens, age 88 of Poplar Grove, Hants County, on Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with his family by his side. <br /> <br />Born on December 24, 1927, in Poplar Grove, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Edwin and Viva (Withrow) Stevens. <br /> <br />Fred was a carpenter by trade, working all his life building homes, churches and also fine cabinetry until his retirement. <br /> <br />He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, the former Mildred Benedict; sons, Eddy, Lantz; Kevin (Carman), Musquodoboit; Mark at home; daughters, Elva (Gary) Lunn, Poplar Grove; Mabel (Mike) Smith, Poplar Grove; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. <br /> <br />Besides his parents, Edwin and Viva (Withrow) Stevens; Fred was predeceased by his brother, Maxwell; and an infant sister, Mabel. <br /> <br />There will be no visitation or formal funeral service. <br /> <br />Arrangements are under the care of Lindsay&rsquo;s Windsor Funeral Home, P.O. Box 2218, 194 King Street, Windsor, B0N 2T0. <br /> <br />Family and friends are all welcome to attend a graveside service at St. Stephen&rsquo;s Cemetery, Stanley, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, with the Rev. Kevin Cox officiating. <br /> <br />A time of fellowship and sharing will follow the service, at the family home in Poplar Grove. <br /> <br />Family flowers only, donations in memory of Fred may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association or to the Canadian Cancer Society. <br /> <br />To add your condolences, click on &quot;Contribute&quot;. <br /> <br /> <br /></div>
