<div itemprop="description">SHIELDS...... <br /> <br />Francis Champion Shields, age 74, of Cheverie, Hants County, died at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, on Saturday, July 4, 2015. <br /> <br />Born on March 23, 1941, in Spring Valley, Prince Edward Island, he was the oldest child of the late Frank and Ruby (Champion) Shields. <br /> <br />Francis graduated from Prince of Wales College and taught school in Prince Edward Island before beginning with the Federal Government in Halifax. He retired in 1999 to a small acreage and enjoyed outdoor life, gardening and raising goats. He was a kind and generous neighbour, and loved his cups of tea. We will forever miss his quick wit. <br /> <br />He is survived by his wife, Theresa &ldquo;Terry&rdquo;; stepson, Harold (Cissy) Lowe, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Chris and Pamela Allen, both of NL; great-grandson, Keghan; also siblings, Jim (Terri), Pictou; Mary (Allan) Graham, Alberton, PEI; Rita (John) LeDue, Valley; David, Elderbank. <br /> <br />Besides his parents, Frank &amp; Ruby (Champion) Shields; he was predeceased by his only daughter, Simone Allen, in 2007. He &amp; Terry then raised Chris from age 16 to the fine young man he is today. <br /> <br />Cremation is under the care of Lindsay&rsquo;s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. <br /> <br />No visitation or flowers by request. <br /> <br />Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am Saturday, July 11, 2015, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 339 King Street, Windsor. Reception to follow at his home.
