Ripley, age 77, of Windsor Forks, Hants County, died on Friday, June 17, 2016, at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family. <br> <br>Born on August 2, 1938, at Martock, Hants County, Nova Scotia, to the late Charlie and Marjorie (Miller) Ripley. Eric was the younger of their two children, with sister, June. <br> <br>Eric moved to Windsor Forks and attended the one room school house there where in his early teens he was charged with carrying the firewood and starting the stove before the others arrived, often trying to cause extra smoke in the room and earn a day off school! Eric met his beautiful bride Pat some 56 years ago and was brave enough to ask her parents for her hand in marriage in their family home, proposing in the kitchen before everyone, he was most worried about losing the ring in the open heating register. <br> <br>In their 51 years of marriage filled with love, they became proud parents of Terry and Dawn. They raised their family near Eric’s family home in Windsor Forks. <br> <br>Eric had a passion for mechanics and a true fascination with cars and machinery. He built a career starting at the young age of 15 years at Avonian Motors where he worked successfully for 21 years. His passion for hard work never ceased and he continued his career with Carl B. Potter and then Dexter Construction for the next 35 years until his retirement in 2009. Eric discovered his love for gardening and wine making in his retirement and spent countless hours growing bountiful crops which he and Pat often bottled and shared with their many friends. <br> <br>Eric is survived by his wife, Patricia Ripley (Pat); his son, Terry (Kyla); daughter, Dawn Marie (Ron), grandchildren, Brandon, Anjuli, Allisa and Ben; mother-in-law, Norma Eldridge; brother-in-law, Sonnie Dauphinee; sister-in-law, Kim Bland (Rob); sister-in-law, Barb Fretwell; nieces and nephews, Susan (Jim), Stephen, Christina, Garby, Shira, Amy, Nicholas, Christopher, Victoria; several great nieces and nephews and two great-great nephews, along with many, many friends and lifetime neighbors and wonderful friends Mary and Bernie Rafuse. <br> <br>Eric is predeceased by his parents, Marjorie and Charlie Ripley; sister, June Mosher; brother-in-law, Walter Mosher; nephew, Timmy Mosher and father-in-law, Murray Dauphinee. <br> <br>As Eric loved nothing more than to sit and talk with friends and family, his life will be celebrated and remembered as he had wanted it, at his home in a come and go for all on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 1–4 pm. at 3576 Highway 14, Windsor Forks. <br> <br>Donations may be made in memorial, to Palliative Care at Hants Community Hospital. <br> <br>A special Thank You to Dr. Cathryn Smith and the nurses in Palliative Care. <br> <br>To place a condolence, click on Contribute. <br> <br> Three things will last forever: <br> faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. <br> Corinthians 1:13 <br></div>
