HINES......

Earl Frederick Hines – age 96, Newport Station, Hants County. Earl passed from this life to the next on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the Halifax Infirmary Site, QEII, surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 20, 1919, in Newport Station, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Robie and Eva (Brown) Hines.

Earl was a friend to all and was known for his kind and gentle ways. Earl worked most of his adult life at the Gypsum Quarry and with Municipal Group of Companies operating a crusher. He married Lola “Dodie” Parker on June 11, 1942, and from that marriage grew a strong close knit family that included 2 children, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Retiring in 1984, Earl turned his focus to what he loved most: to his family, gardening, lawn mowing, playing cards, coffee with friends and in later years a vast Christmas display that people from the Windsor area came to view year after year.

Earl is survived by his wife of 73 years, Lola, Newport Station; daughter, Donna (David) Barkhouse, Scotch Village; son, William (Marlene) Hines, Newport Station; grandchildren, Katrina (Steven) Burgess, Petawawa, ON; Michael (Shannon) Barkhouse, Ottawa, ON; Andrea (Jeremy) Parker, Upper Burlington; great grandchildren, Mikayla Burgess; Logan and Reece Barkhouse; Elijah and Braelynne Parker; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Robie and Eva (Brown) Hines; Earl was predeceased by his twin brother, William; a sister, Eileen in childhood; and later his brother, Charles and sister, Muriel Parker.

A special thank you to all who cared for Earl during the last 3 years of his life while he resided at Dykeland Lodge in Windsor.

Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, at Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0.

A celebration of Earl’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015, in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. A private family committal will be held at the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix.

Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the Friends of Dykeland Lodge or to a charity of choice.

To add your condolences, click on Contribute.

His was a love without ending, Amen.
