<div itemprop="description">CONNELLY…… <br> <br>Dr. Dennis Eugene Connelly <br> <br>Dennis Eugene Connelly, age 85, of Windsor, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Monday, June 27, 2016. Born on June 19, 1931 in Calgary, Alberta, Dennis was the eldest son of the late Dennis and Josephine (Brodbin) Connelly. <br> <br>Dennis is survived by his wife and very best friend, Veronica Elizabeth (Horne) Connelly, Windsor; his son, Dennis (Lisa Lindo) Connelly, Halifax; daughter, Dr. Maureen (Stephen Schiedel) Connelly, Vancouver, and daughter, Kaleen (Michael Sauer) Connelly, Niagara-on-the-Lake; and son, Ernest Connelly, Halifax; his grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas De Luca; Jasper and Jane Schiedel; his brother, Tony (Eileen) Connelly and many nephews and nieces in Eastern and Western Canada. <br> <br>Dennis was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Eileen Dokken and Leona (Ed) Oshiro; his niece, Mavourneen and nephew, Tony. <br> <br>Dennis’ academic career began with the Governor General’s award for highest school grades in Alberta as he finished high school in Hanna, Alberta (1948). Dennis completed his Bachelor of Science (Honours Physics) at University of Alberta (1952) and then worked with Imperial Oil in Venezuela before returning to study his Masters in Commence at the University of Toronto (1960). It was at the University Newman Club that Dennis met Veronica, and received a call for the vocation of marriage. A vocation which they shared for almost sixty years. All the children were born in Alberta, where Dennis worked in his profession (member of the Society for Industrial and Cost Accountants, Alberta 1964). Dennis and Veronica, with four children, moved to the United States where Dennis returned to academics and completed a Doctorate of Philosophy in Finance (Omicron Delta Epsilon) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne (1969), <br> <br>In 1971, Dennis join the Faculty of Commerce at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax and was Dean of Commerce from 1972 to 1976, retired in 1996. Dennis and Veronica found their home town in Windsor, and served the town of Windsor with commitment. They bought the Rufus Curry House and worked for 18 years on the historical restoration of the property, The Clockmaker’s Inn was designated as a Provincial Heritage property in 1995. Dennis was a Town councilor 1991-1997. He received a certificate of Recognition and Appreciation for his contribution to Community Economic Development in Hants County. Family and Children’s Service of Hants County named Dennis as an Honorary Life Member for his many years of service on the Board. He was also on the Board of New Boundaries as Chair for several years, and he chaired the Board of the Canadian Association of Community Living. Dennis was a committed volunteer for the Canadian Association for Community Education, Meals on Wheels, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint John the Evangelist Church. More than any accomplishment or contribution, Dennis Connelly will be remembered for his gift of kindness, his graciousness, his patience and his beautiful smile. Each day until his last, when Dennis saw Veronica walk through the door that smile glowed – just as a halo might. <br> <br>Dear Chum, Dad, Grandad, Papa Denny, we know where you are, but we will miss you here, every moment of our days. <br> <br>The Connelly family would like to express sincere gratitude to the professional and caring staff at the Dykeland Lodge, who in the last few years provided medical support, created a place of dignity and grace and made a home for us. Thank you. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society Canada. <br> <br>Knights of Columbus will hold their service at 6:45 pm Thursday June 30, 2016 with visitation to follow until 8:30 pm in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, P.O.
