Douglas John Whelton, age 83, of Windsor, Hants Co., formerly of Black Rock, New Brunswick, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 10, 2017, at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor.
He was born on July 31, 1933, in Black Rock, New Brunswick, to Wilfred and Gladys (St. Pierre) Whelton.
Doug is survived by his sister, Bernice Thomas-Whelton, Rawdon, Quebec; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Jeanne D’Arc Murty, Grand-Anse, New Brunswick; Mrs.. Patricia Whelton-Theriault, Pokeshaw, New Brunswick; brother-in-law, David Halbgewachs (Ethel), Brooklyn, Hants Co., Nova Scotia; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Douglas was predeceased by his siblings, Patrick, Clifford, Cleve, Wilfred Jr., and Margaret (Halbgewachs).
Doug’s kind and gentle nature made him a treasure to all who knew him.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the compassionate staff at Dykeland Lodge, who provided wonderful care and support over the years.
Funeral will be held in Grand-Anse, New Brunswick, later in the spring.
Arrangements are under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS, B0N 2T0.
