Donald "Donnie" Clyde Sanford, age 82, of Centre Burlington, Hants County, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016, at home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Centre Burlington, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Clyde and Annie (Mann) Sanford.
Donald was a Maintenance Forman for Fundy Gypsum Company, where he worked for over 35 years, retiring in 1998. He loved to tinker around with anything mechanical and could often be seen walking his Boston Terriers.
He is survived by son, Douglas (Donna) Sanford, Centre Burlington, and their children, Justin Sanford, Renee` (Ryan) Gilby and Mallory (James Nickerson); son, Wade (Printhie) Sanford, Union Corner and their children, Jeff (Beth) Sanford; and Meagan Sanford; son, Randy Sanford, Centre Burlington and children, Scott Sanford (Marina Faulkner); Brittany Sanford (Andrew Ling); son, Blair (Deborah) Sanford, Ardmore, OK and their children, Nick and Ryan Sanford; son, Tim (Tanya) Sanford, Middle Sackville and their children, Kailey, Kaleb, Keilan and Keira Sanford; step daughter, Diane (Clyde) Hood, Windsor and children, Annette Lewis, Jodi Harnish, Jane Kerr and Jeff Hood; sisters, Goldie Brannon, Centre Burlington; Beverly Brown, Halifax; Betty Cox, Barrie, Ont., and Carol (Blaine) Burgess, Ellershouse; Susan "Susie" Sanford, Halifax; brother, Artie (Helena) Sanford, Centre Burlington.
Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Priscilla Card; brother, Billy in infancy; sister, Nancy Sanford; daughter-in-law, Laura Sanford; brothers-in-law, Keith Brown and Hughie Brannon
The family would like to acknowledge, a special Thank You, to sister-in-law, Sandra Slauenwhite, caregiver Janice Alley and the Palliative Care Team.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday, August 11, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2016, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. Interment in the Card Beach Cemetery, Card Beach Road, Centre Burlington, Hants County.
Family flowers only, donations may be made to the S.P.C.A. or the Canadian Cancer Society.
