Bayfield Lawrence Sampson,
age 73, of Windsor, and
formerly of Three Mile Plains, Hants County.
It is with deep sadness that his family announce the passing of Bayfield Lawrence Sampson of Windsor, Hants County, on November 29, 2016, at the Q.E. II, Health Sciences Centre, Halifax Infirmary Site, Halifax.
Born on September 7, 1943, in Lucasville, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Goldie (Ford) Sampson.
He is now reunited with his predeceased sister, Muriel Sampson. He was the best ever father of his three children, Nevelle (Sarah Sisco) Sampson, Three Mile Plains; Garett Sampson, Panuke Road, Three Mile Plains, and Janina Sampson, Moncton, New Brunswick. All the fond memories will never be forgotten. Surviving are his siblings Violet (Bellery) Whitehead, New Minas; Iris Sampson, Hamilton, Ontario; Melvina Sampson, Kentville; Bernice Sampson, Toronto, Ontario; Curtis Sampson, Port Williams; Carmen Sampson, Windsor; Paul Sampson, Springhill; and Donald Sampson, Toronto, Ontario. As well he leaves behind his ex-wife, Louisa Hamilton, Newport Station, Hants County; two grandchildren, Hailie and Lucas Sampson, Windsor; and a host of many nieces, nephews and his loving aunts,uncles and cousins in Lucasville and Halifax.
Besides his parents and his sister, he was predeceased by a nephew and a niece; one aunt and one uncle.
Bayfield was a member of the Windsor Plains United Baptist Church. During his younger years he was employed with McClare’s Lumber Mill in Hillsvale, until 1973. After that he was employed with Nova Scotia Textiles Ltd., Windsor, up until 2001 when the mill closed. He showed great dedication there. Bayfield was passionate about watching professional Wrestling on television and also enjoyed watching the live shows at the Halifax Forum in Halifax. He was a large Collector of the Auto-Trader (car-truck) magazines, and also spending a lot of his past times working on his vehicles. He had a strong interest in cars and anything related, that was his hobby. He enjoyed attending family reunions. He was noted as well for his great cooking (especially when it came to Turkey dinners). Bayfield was a man of pride, strength, and confidence. He was a great friend to so many. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday, December 4, in Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Box 2218, Windsor, NS, B0N 2T0.
Funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, December 5, 2016, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Galvin Simmonds officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, 1186 King Street, Windsor.
